Why I’m Building This

I believe wisdom is one of the most valuable forms of inheritance.

​

But wisdom is easily lost.

It can live for decades inside a person and never be recorded.

​

It can shape a family, business, church, neighborhood, classroom, ranch, studio, shop, ministry, or community, then disappear when no one takes the time to ask better questions.

That bothers me.

​

I want to sit with the people around me while they are still here.

I want to ask where they came from, what formed them, what they built, what they endured, what they learned, what they regret, what they hope for, and what they believe the next generation needs to understand.

​

Some of those people will be well known.

Some will not.

That is not the point.

The point is not fame.

The point is formation.

​

There are people in Waco, Central Texas, and beyond who carry wisdom that deserves to be preserved.

Walk With the Wise exists to sit with them, learn from them, honor them, and share the conversation with others.

​

The Conversation

Each Walk With the Wise conversation moves through three core movements:

​

Origin

Where did you come from?

What family, place, hardship, blessing, mentor, mistake, opportunity, or turning point shaped you?

Before a person becomes a leader, artist, builder, elder, entrepreneur, teacher, pastor, craftsman, mother, father,  or steward, there is always an origin story.

I want to understand the ground they grew from.

Craft

What have you given your life to learning, building, practicing, or carrying?

Craft is not limited to art.

A person can have craft in business, ministry, parenting, leadership, construction, hospitality, agriculture, education, civic life, music, writing, athletics, healing, organizing, or serving a community over time.

I want to understand what the work taught them.

Vision

What do you see now?

What would you say to the next generation?

What should be preserved?

What should be corrected?

What should be built?

What should be remembered?

​

The conversation ends by looking forward, not merely backward.

Wisdom is not just reflection. It is inheritance.

​

The Signature Question

Every conversation eventually returns to the heart of the series:

“He who walks with the wise shall become wise.” - Proverbs 13:20

That verse is the premise.

We sit down.

We walk through a life.

​

We trace the origin, the craft, the lessons, the failures, the victories, the work, the wounds, and the wisdom gathered along the way.

Then, before we part ways, I bring the conversation back to the road we have been walking together.

​

The closing question is simple:

"After everything we’ve walked through, what wisdom would you leave with those walking with us?"

​

That question matters because wisdom is not complete until it is shared.

The guest does not only tell their story.

They leave something on the path for the rest of us to carry forward.

The Episode Experience

Each episode begins with a conversation.

​

The recorded session may move through biography, vocation, faith, family, leadership, work, failure, service, culture, community, place, and the guest’s vision for the next generation.

​

After the conversation, the episode is produced and shared so others can walk with that wisdom too.

The goal is not to make every conversation perfect.

The goal is to make it true enough to matter.

​

A good episode should feel like you were invited to sit at the table while someone opened the book of their life and let you read a few pages with them.

Walk With the Wise begins in Waco.

​

I was born and raised here. I have worked with local businesses, artists, landowners, builders, churches, nonprofits, community leaders, and friends across this city and region for much of my life.

Waco is full of people worth learning from.

​

Some are visible.

Some are hidden in plain sight.

Some have built companies.

Some have built families.

Some have shaped classrooms, churches, neighborhoods, studios, ranches, job sites, nonprofits, restaurants, teams, and local institutions.

​

Some carry the memory of what this place has been.

Some carry the imagination for what it could become.

I want to begin here because wisdom should be gathered close to home before it is sought elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you were invited to consider being a guest, welcome.

You may be a good fit for Walk With the Wise if you have lived through something meaningful, built something with care, served people over time, practiced a craft deeply, carried responsibility, endured hardship, led through difficulty, created beauty, formed others, preserved tradition, or learned lessons that should not remain private.

You do not need to have your whole story polished.

You do not need to arrive with perfect answers.

You simply need to be willing to sit in an honest conversation and walk through what life, work, faith, failure, service, discipline, and experience have taught you.
